Convert PPTX to HTML5
Turn a PowerPoint file into a self-contained web page that looks and behaves exactly like the original deck — animations, fonts, charts and Morph transitions intact. No PowerPoint, no plugins, no third-party viewer.
What you get
Every conversion produces a downloadable zip containing index.html plus SVG, CSS, JavaScript and media assets — a complete, navigable web version of your deck. Because the package is static files, you can host it on any CDN, drop it into an existing site, ship it inside your product, or open it straight from disk. Once converted, it never phones home to SlideKiln.
Unlike converters that rasterize slides into images, SlideKiln rebuilds each slide from the PPTX source as native web elements: real selectable text, real vector shapes, real fonts. Output stays crisp at any zoom level and on any screen.
What survives conversion
Shapes & geometry
All 187 preset shape geometries plus custom geometry, rendered as crisp vectors.
Animations & Morph
Entrances, emphasis, exits, motion paths, triggers, slide transitions — including Morph.
Text & fonts
Server-side layout with real font metrics; substitutions (e.g. Calibri → Carlito) are reported.
Charts, tables & SmartArt
Rendered natively, including built-in table styles and theme colors.
Video & audio
Embedded media is transcoded with quality and resolution controls.
Theme fidelity
Color maps, duotone recolors, effects and fills parsed straight from OOXML.
How the conversion works
SlideKiln parses the OOXML file format directly — there is no PowerPoint or LibreOffice under the hood. Text is laid out server-side with true font metrics so line breaks land where PowerPoint put them, and the full animation timing engine is compiled into the package. Upload a file in the dashboard, POST it to the REST API, or point the API at a URL you host.
Uploads and outputs are stored privately with time-limited signed download URLs and deleted after the retention window (24 hours by default). Typical conversions take seconds. Want to put the result on your own site? See embedding a PowerPoint in your website.
Frequently asked questions
Is the HTML5 output really standalone?
Yes. The download is a zip containing index.html plus SVG, CSS, JS and media assets. It has no runtime dependency on SlideKiln — host the folder on any static host or CDN, or open it from disk, and the deck plays.
Do PowerPoint animations work in the browser?
Yes. Every package ships with a full animation runtime: entrance, emphasis and exit effects, motion paths, triggers, slide transitions and PowerPoint's Morph transition play back as authored, with click-through navigation like a real presentation.
Do I need PowerPoint or LibreOffice installed?
No. SlideKiln parses the PPTX file format (OOXML) directly on its servers — there is no PowerPoint or LibreOffice anywhere in the pipeline, and nothing to install on your side. Any browser and a .pptx file is all you need.
What happens to fonts the converter can't redistribute?
Text is laid out server-side with real font metrics so line breaks match PowerPoint. Licensed fonts are substituted with metric-compatible equivalents — for example Calibri becomes Carlito — and every substitution is reported in the conversion result.
How large can my presentation be, and how long does conversion take?
Files up to 500 MB are supported via signed upload URLs. Typical conversions finish in seconds — a 100-slide deck takes about a second of processing time.
Can I try it for free?
Yes — the free plan includes 2 conversions a month with no credit card. Paid plans start at $29/month with 50 conversions included.
